A scarce circa 1851 W.T. Copeland Regimental dinner plate commemorating the connection between the Scots Fusilier Guards and the 92nd (Gordon) Highlanders.

The connection between these two famous regiments came about through General George Gordon, the 5th Duke of Gordon, who in 1794 raised the Gordon Highlanders. Between 1834 and 1836, the Duke served as the Colonel of the Scots Fusilier Guards.

The plate is pre-Crimean war (1854-1856) as it only shows battle honours from the Peninsular War (1808-1814).

The plate is in good condition with no cracks, chips or repairs. Importantly, it has the W.T. Copeland factory mark on its base. The plate, however, is faded in places owing to 170 years' use. Due to heavy day-to-day use, military mess china from this period suffered high rates of damage making this plate very scarce.
