A pair of circa 1930s Queens' College and Cambridge University bookends.
Made by A.W. Crisp & Co of 16 King's Parade, Cambridge, these bookends, which are made of wood with metal base plates, have on their underneaths their original company labels. The college and university crests are transfer-printed and have miraculously survived.
The bookends and crests are in very good condition considering their past use and age. Notably, few bookends were made by A.W. Crisp & Co, who mainly produced college and university shields.
