A scarce 1893 Marcel Pic pastel and chalk caricature of a British Army Major in the Royal Artillery/Royal Engineers.
Little biographical detail is available on this late 19th Century French artist, but it is known that he worked in England, and then with the British Army in Egypt.
This original picture, which is on buff paper and is signed by the artist, is accompanied by its original frame and glass.
Owing to the fragile, impermanent materials used, few pastel and chalk drawings survive.
The picture is in very good condition - no tears or holes - but does have some old staining at the very bottom of the image.
